We went to another museum! And this one was also modeled on the Athena Parthenon! It is the oldest public museum in the entire WORLD! So the museum is like history itself! I am going to tell you every exhibit we went to. It is a very big museum... Do I hear groans of despair?
SO, first we saw bet up marble Greek busts. Oh, there was Aphrodite and Director D (Dionysus) and Zeus and HERCULES! *trumpets play*. And HERCULES! *trumpets play*. And HERCULES! *trumpets play a fancy fanfare and die out*.
Then Diana (she is a friend from Nelson who we have met up with) got us kiddy booklets like Peacock Hunt! And Rabbit Hunt! I chose Find Out All About Dead Mummies! Not really. It wasn't called that. So I got to see lots 'o mummified things, and dead people and shabtis and a CAT scan on dead person.
Then Mum and Diana and Jack wanted to leave. So we all went and tea and cakes at Mark's and Spencer's. Then, Dad and I went back to the museum whilst (I LOVE THAT WORD!) everyone else went on a walking tour.
So, now I get to explain (in great depth) the rest of the museum! Hallelujah! OK, so we went downstairs to see some forged coins. It showed you about 20 ways to see if your twenty pound note was real or faked. You could also play a game called Push Ha'penny. I won! There is a Roman coin trove with a really really special coin in it because there is only something like two in the entire world! It had the head of a guy who was emperor for approximately two days! Then we saw old little pieces old fabric that were falling apart. I am sure they would have been very pretty when they were whole. There were some vases and shabti too.
Now, I have reached the biggest story of all. Yay! (for me). OK, you walked in on a whole lot of little Indian gods, doing their thing. Y'know, dancing on each other, having multiple arms etc. On the whole, they looked like very interesting characters and I would have loved to know them. After, we got to see lots and lots of crockery. Lots of it. Like three rooms. Then there were tons of paintings. Probably the rest of the rooms (except for the one filled with violins). The painting were either of people or flowers or dead fish. Then we left! I think that museum was better than the British museum. Probably because there was fewer people.
So, I am back at the YHA. Typing this for your enjoyment. I hope.
Talking about enjoyment, look right down to the bottom of the photos.
Haha! I am back! I will always be with you, in a non stalkerish sort of way. I will be like a bug that keeps on flying around you wind screen, and you can't kill it because partly you are in the car, and partly because the wind screen wipers aren't working. So, why have I popped up like an insect in front of your automobile? BECAUSE... I went to a bookstore! It wasn't just any bookstore. It was the bookstore with the biggest room of books for sale in the entire WORLD! (Blackwells). Yeah, I just thought I'd tell you that. So, have fun at school... No! Wait! It is your weekend! Good luck at sport etc.
I hate you. I really do.
ReplyDeleteOh! *sniffle* Don't worry, I know what you mean.
DeleteIn a loving way, of course.
ReplyDeleteSee?
DeleteI am sure my mummy never had a cat scan in any of her nine lives. Tell me that Jack finished all those plates of food at M & S.I worry that he is trying to live on popcorn alone.
ReplyDeleteWe are doing Five Plus A Day, don't worry.
