Second Day of the South Downs Way

Bury to Washington

Breakfast Language Learning : How to say BREAKFAST
Welsh: brecwast

Main Event of the Day:

The walking. Mum said:
At home: 'Oh, it will be all flat, don't you worry!'
On the canal: 'Oh, the walk will be all flat like this, don't worry!'
So, there I was, thinking the South Downs Way would be a piece of cake. It wasn't, was it? Nope. It was cold, windy and damp. It was all up a very steep hill. Then it started to rain. Only for a little bit, but all of the elements were against me. Except fire. It was cold, windy and damp, and up a hill, so all the elements would have told fire to lay off a bit. We'll get the forest fire tomorrow, I expect. But it will probably still be cold, wet and rainy.

So I composed a poem:

Was wet
And rainy
And windy
And cold
My bag
Was heavy
Couldn't see
The sea
I was
Supposed to.
Really, what's
The point
Of walking?
It's boring
And repetitive
On the
Path was
Poo and
Huge piles
Of poo
On the
Side of
The path
Which smelled
Bad. Obviously
We saw
Large snails
And slugs
Big black
Oozy ones
One was
Squashed. Stood
On. Inevitably.

It's a long rambling poem that sums up everything. No more explanations needed.

  1. How can you have Downs if you don't have Ups?The weather sounds nice. Our last shower was 195mm but it is all gone and the outside temperature now is 0.3 degrees.

  2. It's down in the south. And it is not as cold as where you are!
